2019 DuBrul Cabernet Sauvignon

2019 was an unusual growing season for Washington. There was snow in the vineyards in February and March which delayed pruning and resulted in increased soil moisture. This led to larger canopy growth and also delayed bud break. Summer temps were mild compared to recent years with few heat spikes, leading to veraison and harvest beginning later than normal. Temperatures cooled considerably after the the first week of September and remained that way throughout harvest. Grapes achieved phenolic (flavor) maturity before sugar ripeness, contributing to lower overall sugar accumulation and elevated natural acidity. The season ended on Oct 11th with a freeze. Overall, 2019 created high quality wines that we are proud of.

The 2019 DuBrul Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon demands attention with its brooding dark fruits like blackberry and plumb, as well as an energetic array of baking spices. This wine is rich, dense, and boasts a satisfying mid-palate weight. Aged in 100% new French Oak, the 2019 DuBrul shows well now, but has the complex tannin structure to cellar for many years to come.
